The Games are a community-led initiative as a collaboration of the city’s seniors, sports associations, and multicultural communities. Richmond’s bid was developed by Richmond Sports Council, the collective body of the city’s sports groups, and is directed by a community volunteer society. The number of seniors is increasing by eight per cent annually, and in 2015, BC’s seniors will outnumber children.
